This room draws inspiration from Milanese culinary traditions. The invention of the famous “risotto alla milanese” wasn’t by a chef, but by a painter. It is said that in 1574, while working on the stained glass windows of the Duomo, the assistant to a certain Master Valerio of Flanders enhanced the colors by adding a pinch of saffron.
One day, the assistant—nicknamed Zafferano—added the spice to his lunch. The master was so impressed by the dish that he decided to serve it at his daughter’s upcoming wedding. The guests first admired the vibrant color and then the aromas, and soon saffron risotto became a staple of Milanese cuisine.

The fragrance, color, and flavors of this spice inspired the design choices for this room. Located on the second and top floor of the Residence, it features two large windows overlooking the inner courtyard. The wooden beam ceiling adds a sense of calm and serenity to the space.
